Arranged by Bruce Hurn

Babes in Toyland is an operetta composed by Victor Herbert, with a libretto by Glen MacDonough. It premiered in 1903 and combines characters from Mother Goose nursery rhymes into a festive musical experience. The operetta is particularly popular during the Christmas season.

The story revolves around two children, Alan and Jane, who escape their strict home life to find joy in Toyland. They encounter various whimsical characters, including the Master Toymaker and the villainous Uncle Barnaby, who seeks to control their fortune. The operetta blends adventure with themes of family and the importance of imagination.

Our arrangement starts in F but modulates midway through to Gb Major, making it perhaps too challenging for younger musicians.
