The Stars and Stripes Forever
The Stars and Stripes Forever
Arranged by Brad Howland
Four trombones
Trombones 1 and 2 in tenor or bass clef
"Stars and Stripes was liked by the guys in the trio, and was a big hit as the postlude for both congregations. Usually the postlude is throwaway music, with the musicians fighting to be heard over the noise of a departing crowd and finishing to an empty house. Not on these two Sundays! People stayed and listened. One congregation starting clapping along near the start (though it didn't live long), while the other started clapping along as the final strain began and carried on till the end. Both groups applauded when we were done. I don't know about your church, but in my church this almost never happens at the postlude...Thanks for your good work. I'm sure we'll use your stuff every Independence Day far into the future."
