Here is a beautiful adaption of songs from the province of Québec and France that the arranger heard and loved as a child.

Québec was originally known as Le Canada, with the French settlers born in Canada referring to themselves as les Canadiens (the Canadians), rather than les Français (the French, those native to France). Québec folk music is steeped in a rich tradition of songs and dances from northern France, namely the regions of Île-de-France, Picardy, Normandy, Poitou, and Brittany.

As time went by the French Canadians began developing their own music, infusing it with dances such as the jig, quadrille and reel. It is often performed on folk instruments like fiddle, spoons or accordion, but can also sound great on brass, as it does in this arrangement!
