Fantasia on Christ Arose
Fantasia on Christ Arose
Brass quartet, timpani, organ
Do you need Easter music for brass quartet? This is a great option for professional-level players.
After a mournful opening statement by second trumpet, the piece enters a fugue for brass quartet alone. The fugue will probably require some rehearsal time, but it can be cut if needed, making the whole piece about a minute shorter.
The fugue is followed by hints of a fanfare that doesn't quite get off the ground, then some beautiful espressivo music traded between brass and organ, and a dramatic Grave measure. A timpani roll leads off a lively Allegro that represents the resurrection. And of course, an epic finale!
We also have an adaption of this work for brass quintet.
