Come, ye Sons of Art
Come, ye Sons of Art
Arranged by Lawrence Killian
Come, ye Sons of Art was composed by Henry Purcell in 1694 for the birthday of Queen Mary II of England. Originally written for recorders, oboes, trumpets, timpani, strings, and basso continuo, it makes a fine arrangement for modern brass, which have a more powerful sound than early instruments typically provide.
This arrangement includes all the movements. The Countertenor solos may be sung by Contralto or Mezzo-soprano voices, if you don't have the high male singers on hand.
Arranged for three trumpets (Bb), piccolo trumpet (A), two horns, two trombones, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, soprano soloist, two countertenor (or alto) soloists, bass soloist, SATB chorus, keyboard
Score and parts are optimized for A4-size paper
